Even If You Hire Movers, You Are Required to Move Somethings Yourself
The sheer amount of items in a typical household can make moving day a daunting task for many. Due to the hassle involved, many people opt to hire a moving company to handle the relocation of items. Friends, family and acquaintances are good places to start when trying to find a moving provider. You can also use the Internet to search for providers of professional moving services (i.e.’moving companies Manhattan‘). Most moving companies will impose restrictions on the things they are willing to transport, however. You will need to arrange your own transportation for the following items, or dispose of them before moving day: Perishable Items: Movers do not want to transport produce, frozen or refrigerated foods – due to the risk of spoilage during transport. Live Animals: A moving truck is no place for a living creature. Take your pets with you or find a pet transportation specialist. Plants: Don’t count on your mover to transport your plants either – they are too fragile and sensitive. Hazardous Materials: Many chemicals (i.e. ammonia, bleach, paint thinner, lighter fluid) can be flammable or explosive – so movers don’t want them in their trucks. Batteries, fireworks, charcoal, propane tanks and aerosol cans are also considered to hazardous to move safely. If you do not wish to dispose of these items, you should consult with a provider that is trained in hazardous materials (hazmat) transportation. Firearms: For a variety of legal and insurance reasons, you will need to move your guns and ammunition yourself.
